Presenter Profile

Bryan Burnett

Bryan Burnett has been presenter of Brand New Country since it was first broadcast.

He has been presenting radio programmes for over twenty years and has been involved with the music business since he was at school, when he wrote gig reviews for the local paper in Aberdeen.

Bryan's love of country music kicked off in the 80's with the new traditionalist boom when artists like Steve Earle, Nanci Griffith and Lyle Lovett first made an impact in the UK.

Over the years, Bryan considers himself fortunate enough to have been able to interview some of his favourite artists. The Brand New Country's guest list over the years has included Emmylou Harris, Shelby Lyne, Kenny Chesney, The Mavericks, Alison Krauss & Union Station and Gretchen Peters.

Elsewhere on Radio Scotland, Bryan is the host of Get It On on Mondays to Thursdays at 6pm.

Bryan was also the face of Scottish Passport, the holiday programme on Scottish Television. He has travelled from Dundee to Dehli and from Torquay to Tokyo. In that time he has acquired a wardrobe full of Hawaiian shirts and a collection of stamps in his passport that make him the envy of all his friends!

When he's not working, Bryan is a keen participant in the amateur athletics circuit and this year finished the London Marathon in a time of 2hrs 52mins, well ahead of all the other celebrity participants.

Bryan is originally from Aberdeen, but now lives in the south side of Glasgow.
