No matter the title, TED RUSSELL KAMP is quickly becoming one of the most talked- about new performing artists and in-demand songwriters in Americana. His 2007 release, Divisadero, that No Depression called “…terrific,” and “…an impressive record…,” earned widespread praise across the board from press, radio and retail in both the U.S. and Europe.

Kamp’s musical stew roils with the sweet soul sounds of Memphis, New Orleans and Muscle Shoals; and the marinated roots rock of the Southwest. His lyrics and vocals bring to mind the gritty eloquence of Willie, Waylon and Kris, the style of Texas greats Guy Clark and Townes Van Zandt and the yearning melodies of tunesmiths such as Gram Parsons and Jackson Browne.

Some of the top names in alt-country recorded with Ted in Los Angeles including guitarists Tony Gilkyson and Kenny Vaughan (Marty Stuart’s Fabulous Superlatives, Rodney Crowell, Patty Loveless, Lucinda Williams), drummer Don Heffington, Marvin Etzioni on mandolin, Waylon Jennings/Highwaymen pedal steel player Robbie Turner, and Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash front-man Mark Stuart. Kamp’s own instrumental prowess is heard on guitar, mandolin, bass, keyboards, lap steel, accordion, trombone and trumpet.

When he’s not in the studio creating his own blend of country-tinged roots rock, Kamp plays bass alongside Shooter Jennings as part of Jennings’ celebrated band, The .357s.

Quotes about Divisidero:

terrific… impressive record” No Depression, USA

[Divisadero] pays respectful and sensitive homage to classic country sounds of the past, Kamp has absorbed country traditions as something of an outsider, but his deft handling of outlaw narratives, lonesome balladry and brassy soul reveals how completely the south has worked its way under his skin.” - Maverick, UK
